Applications sought for “Patriots of the Past, Present, and Future” hosted by Senator Mike Morrell

Senator Mike Morrell (R-23rd District-Rancho Cucamonga) has opened nominations for the 5th annual “Patriots of the Past, Present, and Future” veterans recognition event. The event is slated for Friday, March 9, 2018 at March Field Air Museum in Riverside to honor individuals and organizations for their commitment to our nation. Nominations are now being sought for four categories including the category of “Patriots of the Greatest Generation” to honor those who served during World War II.

To be considered for any of the categories individuals and organizations must be based in the 23rd Senate District. The district includes Yucaipa and the following communities: Banning, Beaumont, Big Bear Lake, Calimesa, Crestline, Hemet, Highland, Lake Arrowhead, Loma Linda, Menifee, Phelan, Piñon Hills, Rancho Cucamonga, Redlands, Running Springs, San Bernardino and Wrightwood.

Within the Patriots of the Past and Present nominations nominators will choose between subcategories of business, education, healthcare, public safety, community service and civic service. One finalist from each category will be selected for special recognition.

Young men and women under the age of 21 are encouraged to submit applications for “Patriots of the Future.” Senator Morrell is asking individuals to share what patriotism means to them by submitting an online questionnaire and taking a photo with a veteran that includes a caption explaining why he or she is a patriot.  Applicants must either live or attend school in the 23rd Senate District. First, second and third place winners will be recognized at the March awards event as well as receive a $100 Amazon gift card, Amazon Echo Dot-2nd Generation, and an Amazon Fire Tablet, respectively. A parental consent form for participants under the age of 18 will be required.

The 5th annual Patriots of the Past, Present, and Future is a unique opportunity to acknowledge veterans, reservists, enlisted service members, and those groups that serve them, as well as highlight legislative issues impacting men and women in uniform.
