City of Yucaipa Offering Lifeguard Training for Individuals 15 Years and Older
Are you looking to become a certified, professional lifeguard?
The city of Yucaipa is offering a four-day program of videos, group discussion and hands-on practice to prepare individuals to provide safety and life-saving skills as a certified lifeguard. Class participants will learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills needed to successfully complete the coursework leading to a 2-year certification in lifeguarding.
Class prerequisites will include completing a 7-hour online assignment prior to the first class. Additional prerequisites will include completing a 300-yard swim, 25-yard brick retrieval and 2-minutes of treading water during the first in-person class meeting. Successfully completing the lifeguarding class will include earning certification in lifeguarding, professional-level CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator) in one certificate.
The city of Yucaipa’s Lifeguard Training class will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 16, 18, 23 and 25 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the city’s 7th St. Pool at 12385 7th St. in Yucaipa. Fees for the training sessions are $172.50 for Yucaipa residents and $207.00 for non-Yucaipa residents.
