Applications being accepted for car giveaway
Ben Clymer’s the Body Shop will once again partner with several local organizations to provide a car to a Yucaipa family in need. This will be the fifth annual giveaway.
The car will come with one year of insurance, a trunk filled with groceries, and possibly car seats.
Last year’s recipient was the Rash family. Tom and Veronica Rash are both blind, and two of their four children are vision impaired as well. After their vehicle broke down, they were left without reliable transportation. When the recession hit, Tom was forced to close his business, rendering the family unable to pay for a new car.
Ben Clymer’s The Body Shop restored a car that had been involved in an accident, bringing it back to new. Employees of the company donated their time repair the car.
“It’s amazing,” Tom Rash when he received the car in June of 2015. “It’ll be good to have a car that runs, and to get that independence.”
Ben Clymer’s The Body Shop is looking to provide another family with that experience. To be eligible, the recipient must reside in the city of Yucaipa, be eligible to be insured, hold a valid driver license with a clean DMV record, and must be truly in need of a car.
Sponsors of the event include Ben Clymer’s The Body Shop, PPG, Auto Club of Southern California, LKQ, Yucaipa Mayor Denise Hoyt and Community Connect.
The vehicle will be presented at Ben Clymer’s The Body Shop in Yucaipa May 19.
Community Connect will be collecting the applications. The staff at Ben Clymer’s will make the final selection based on the applicant that most demonstrates the need and life change that a car would bring to their family. Applications can be submitted by potential recipients, a friend or family member, or by an agency.
Applications must be received by May 2 at 5 p.m. For an application or additional information, please email Marie Davis at email@example.com.
