Practice makes perfect! Well, maybe not perfect, but a little practice will probably make for a bit better golf game at the 6th Annual Braswell Memorial Golf Tournament hosted by the Rotary Club of Yucaipa. So, start putting, chipping and even leaving the family for a practice round of golf to get in shape for a day of fun with Yucaipa’s Rotarians and the opportunity to help raise funds for the Rotary’s local, regional and global service projects.

The Annual Braswell Memorial Golf Tournament is in honor of Al, Ruth and John Braswell. The Braswells dedicated themselves and tremendous amounts of their time and resources to support both the Yucaipa Rotary and other Rotary projects outside the local area. The annual tournament has been undertaken to honor the Braswells’ dedication to “Service Above Self” which is also the Rotary motto.

This year’s tournament will begin on Friday, Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m. for check-in followed by a 9:45 a.m. putting contest. The tournament begins with a shotgun start. The day caps off at 3:30 p.m. with an early dinner, awards and raffle. The tournament will be held at the Yucaipa Valley Golf Club at 33725 Chapman Heights Road in Yucaipa. Tournament participant fees are $110 for one individual golfer. A four-person team fee is $400. A non-golfer meal will be $15.

A variety of sponsorships are currently available beginning with one tee sign sponsorship at $100 and a three tee signs package for $200. Red, White and Blue sponsorships range from $2,5000, $1,000 and $550 respectively. The Star-Spangled Sponsorship is available for $5,000. Each sponsorship includes a specific number of players and tee signs and the higher priced sponsorships include reserved tables and recognition at the awards dinner. Redlands Ford has already signed on as the hole in one sponsor.

The Braswell Memorial Golf Tournament is not only an opportunity for a day of fun and golf with friends but it is also an opportunity to support the work of the Rotary Club of Yucaipa. This includes the Hometown Heroes Banner Program, Rotary Youth Leadership camps for local middle and high school students, literacy projects, food distributions to local families and seniors in need, and scholarships for graduates of Yucaipa schools and Crafton Hills students and Fire Academy enrollees. Other projects include the local Rotary’s support of regional and international Rotary projects.
