3rd Annual 5K Fun Run in Yucaipa to benefit CAL FIRE local 2881 firefighter cancer fund
CAL FIRE Local 2881 are hosting a 5K Fun Run in Yucaipa today to help bring awareness, mentorship and also to emphasize the importance of early detection and cancer screenings. This weekend’s event marks the 3rd annual 5K run/walk for Local 2881 fundraising program of NO ONE LEFT BEHIND.
The mission of NO ONE LEFT BEHIND is “To provide Fire Department members and their families with an opportunity to receive assistance when dealing with cancer. Together we can provide comfort, strength, and hope through our own experiences in dealing with the devastating effects of cancer. Together we can educate Fire Department members regarding the importance of cancer screenings and early detection. Together we can promote an awareness that cancer does not have to be dealt with alone.”
CAL FIRE firefighters have further indicated that the goal of their fundraising efforts for NO ONE LEFT BEHIND is to “ensure that the firefighters, who do so much to help our community, remain healthy and get the support they deserve when they need it.”
Registration for the 5K run/walk for adults is $40 plus a $3.19 fee. Registration for children, ages 5 to 15 is $20 plus a $2.09 fee.
The 3rd Annual 5K Fun Run (and walk) is scheduled to begin Sunday morning at 9 a.m. at the Yucaipa Fire Station 2 located at 32664 Yucaipa Blvd in Yucaipa. Signups are available through Eventbrite at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/3rd-annual-no-one-left-behind-5k-runwalk-tickets-37081647205.
