Shop Small Business Saturday in Yucaipa on November 30
As regular as taxes the holiday season is upon us again. Our mailboxes are full of ads and flyers touting the latest in toys, fashions, jewelry, cosmetics, tools, sporting equipment, holiday decorations and just about everything under the sun plus all the savings that can be had.
Whether you normally shop in brick-and-mortar stores or turn on your computer to do it all online, there’s more to shopping for Christmas or Hanukah than just Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The Yucaipa Chamber of Commerce and the local retail community are urging Yucaipians to patronize the “little guys” on Saturday, Nov. 30 for Shop Small Business Saturday.
Part of what makes Yucaipa (and other small cities) unique are the vast numbers and diversity of small businesses. These stores have a keen eye for what is needed and wanted by local residents. The local hardware store knows that the local residents need both car window shades as well as ice scrapers this time of year for the treks you may be taking to Palm Springs or the local mountains, respectively. Many of Yucaipa’s independent local shops are owned by your family, friends and neighbors.
Small Business Saturday was founded by American Express and first observed on Nov. 27, 2010. In contrast to Black Friday, which highlights big box retail and Cyber Monday which features the online, e-commerce industry, Small Business Saturday is all about the “local guy.” Celebrated throughout the U.S., Small Business Saturday is now also recognized in the United Kingdom as a result of the success of the event in the U.S.
Shop Small Business Saturday and know that you’re really helping the local economy and adding to Yucaipa’s Holiday cheer!
