Seniors Tap Into Your Inner Artist with classes in Acrylic Painting or Drawing/Painting Basics
Perhaps your inner artist is calling. You look at simple line drawings and think, “I could do that!” Or maybe you remember an acrylic painting you did in high school art class and recall how much fun it was to do and how well it turned out.
Whatever your reason, if you have any inclining to try your hand at acrylic painting or the basic of drawing and painting, the city of Yucaipa’s Scherer Senior Center has a class for you.
An Acrylic Painting Class will begin Tuesday, Jan. 8 and continue each Tuesday through Jan. 29 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. The class is $65 per person plus supplies. A supply list is available in the Scherer Senior Center. Classes will be taught by with Joe A. Oakes, an award-winning artist.
All skill levels are welcome in this class and will cover important art principals. Students will learn painting techniques that can be applied to any subject matter and these skills can be put to use to create a finished acrylic painting. Plus, the classes are fun and informative.
Also available for those pursue the world of art is the class in the Basics of Drawing and Painting with Instructor Hummingbird Ferne Sirosis. Using an easy, step-by-step demonstration, participants will have the opportunity to try techniques of Da Vinci, Degas, Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh and Vermeer.
The drawing and painting class will be held Mondays, Jan. 7 through 28 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Cost for the classes is $10 per class plus supplies. A supply list for the classes is available at the Scherer Senior Center.
